Julio Velasco: Iran Intends to Defeat Germany at Home
During the recent weeks, Iran’s men national volleyball team has accomplished to defeat giants Italy, Serbia and Cuba. This achievement has been well-received by fans inside the country.
Julio Velasco, the Argentines head coach of Iran national volleyball team, says Iranian players should concentrate on the upcoming two matches against Germany, which are scheduled to be held at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
“The performance of Iranian players in World League was spectacular and nobody expected such great successes from Iran in this tournament. Until now, we have won four matches in the hope of qualifying for the next round of the competition.” Julio Velasco told a press conference held on Wednesday.
Currently, Iran doesn’t have any chance to qualify for the knock-out phase of Volleyball World League since the other two teams have been already qualified from Group B. “By the way, our players will do their best to win the next two games against Germany. I am sure that Iranian spectators will join the stadium to support their favorite team. So it is very important for us to make them happy and satisfied with the end result.”
In 2011, Iran’s VolleyBall Federation signed with Julio Velasco. Team Melli managed to win Asian Volleyball Championship at the same year, and it qualified for World League for the first time in history. According to estimations, 15,000 fans will join Azadi Stadium to support national volleyball team on Friday.
