Ali Daei: Uhlsport Supplies Low-Quality Balls to Iran Pro League
The German sports goods manufacturer Uhlsport, which supplies the official league ball of Iran, has been heavily criticized by Iranian coaches and players in recent days. Accordingly a large number of players have expressed their dissatisfaction with the low quality of imported balls.
“Uhlsport Company has supplied low-quality and outdated balls to Iran Premier League. These balls were originally produced in 2007, but they are still being sent to Iran. I urge the Football Federation to terminate its contract with Uhlsport due to clear violations of this company.” Ali Daei, the head coach of Persepolis FC, remarked in an interview on Monday.
The managers of Uhlsport in Iran have accused Ali Daei of ‘defaming’ the company for no reasons. Daei runs his sports goods manufacturer company under the brand name of Daei. Also he is the franchisee of Adidas in Iran. Daei’s shop is located at Tehran’s Moniryeh Square.
Vahid Jafari, the manager of Uhlsport in Iran and the Middle East region, says the similar balls are employed in other notable leagues like Ligue 2 and Coupe de la Ligue of France.
“Unfortunately players and head coaches are not entitled to make comments about the quality of these balls. Iran’s Football Federation has already confirmed the quality of Uhlsport’s balls. It is good to know that balls are new, and they have been recently manufactured in Germany.” Vahid Jafari told reporters on Thursday.
“To be honest, the rivals of Uhlsport in Iran’s markets are not happy with the accomplishments of this German company. By dominating the market of Iran, Uhlsport has threatened the interests of other sports goods manufacturers in the country.” Jafari concluded.
Currently, Uhlsport sponsors nine clubs in Iran Pro League. Esteghlal, Persepolis and Sepahan are the most famous Iranian clients of Uhlsport. The German company also supports Iran’s beach, futsal and football national teams. Team Melli will participate in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
