Reza Enayati Praises Esteghlal Officials
Last week, Esteghlal signed a two-year contract with Alireza Vahedi Nikbakht. This signing sparked dissensions between fans. A group of fans believe that Nikbakht, 33, had already betrayed the club by joining arch-rival Persepolis in 2006. However, Nikbakht has earlier announced that he will do what he could to requite this inconvenience.
Gholamreza Enayati said on Saturday that Esteghlal officials have taken a right decision for signing with Alireza Vahedi Nikbakht. “He is one of my best friends. By signing with him, Amir Ghalenoei and Ali Fathollahzadeh have helped Nikbakht to return to football.”
After leaving Esteghlal for Persepolis, Nikbakht lost his popularity and failed to claim his spot in Iran national football team.
“I am sure that he can repeat his successes with Esteghlal. I also urge Esteghlal fans to help and support him. In such occasions, players should receive enough supports from fans. As far as I know, Vahedi Nikbakht is ready to serve Esteghlal in the best possible way.” Enayati added.
It was being rumored that Esteghlal officials are also looking to sign with Gholamreza Enayati. “I have finalized my deal with Saba. Currently, I only concentrate on this club. However, I wish all the best for Esteghlal.”
Enayati used to be one of the best forwards of Esteghlal. He played in two spells for the Tehran-based football club. From 2003 to 2006, he appeared in 71 matches in Esteghlal scoring 52 goals. In 2009-10 season, he managed to score 3 goals in 17 games.
