Pourranjbar Encourages Iranian Companies to Invest in ICT Sector
According to the statistics released on June by the Iranian government, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry creates almost 50,000 new job opportunities for Iranians every year.
Iran is among the Middle Eastern states suffering from unemployment. Independent studies suggest that around 35% of Iranians are jobless. However, only 20% of Iranians are unemployed according to the surveys conducted by governmental organizations.
Iran Telecommunication Company managing director Mozaffar Pourranjbar says privately-held companies and the government should start investing in ICT sector as it offers remarkable profits. He also believes that Iranian companies can export their products and services to international markets.
“ICT sector can play important role in Iran’s economy. Currently, Islamic Republic of Iran is only exporting oil and gas products to other countries. I strongly believe that these conditions should be changed by applying right policies.” Mozaffar Pourranjbar remarked during a conference held at Tehran’s Moshae Hall on Friday.
According to this Iranian manager, large numbers of students, who have graduated from Iran’s top universities, are expert at ICT fields. “By increasing investments, we can make job for these educated youths. On the other side, local companies can take advantage of remarkable profits involved in producing and exporting products. At this time, Iran’s ICT products are being exported to regional and international markets.”
Mozaffar Pourranjbar says Iran’s ICT sector can be as mush profitable as nation’s oil industries. “The other countries in the Middle East region are far behind from Iran in this domain. So we can easily dominate the regional markets, if we take appropriate action as soon as possible.”
The CEO of Iran Telecommunication Company also called on the Iranian government to offer more supports to companies willing to operate in this area. “In fact, these companies must be rewarded. In my opinion, the government should take this industry important.”
