Persepolis Want to Sign Osasuna Midfielder Masoud Shojaei
Osasuna’s Iran international midfielder Masoud Shojaei is currently looking to find a new club in Spain, as Osasuna opted not to renew Masoud’s contract for the next season of La Liga.
Shojaei, 29, has already started his negotiations with other clubs in Spain’s top flight league such as Real Valladolid since he prefers to continue his career in Europe. However, it seems the Spanish clubs are not interested in the services of Masoud.
Iran national football team has qualified for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and Shojaei is definitely interested in serving Team Melli in the upcoming World Cup. So he will sign a new deal in coming days.
Mohammad Royanian, the managing director of Persepolis FC, is reportedly negotiating with Masoud Shojaei’s agents over possible his move to Tehran. At this time, Persepolis FC are trying to sign Mohammad Reza Khalatbari from Ajman FC. The Emirates-based football club is ready to release Khalatbari for a whopping buyout clause of $1 million.
According to local media reports, Persepolis FC can sign Masoud Shojaei for less than $1 million at this point. Shojaei made his move to Osasuna on 23 June 2008. At the same time, Javad Nekounam was playing for the La Liga-side football club.
Last year, Nekounam terminated his contract with Osasuna to join the Iranian giants Esteghlal FC. He helped the team to win the title of Iran Pro League. Javad Nekounam played a big role in Esteghlal’s advancement to the knockout stage of the AFC Champions League. Recently, he agreed to extend his deal until the end of 2014.
Masoud Shojaei, who was born in Shiraz, is a product of Saipa Academy. Before signing with Osasuna, he played for Sanat Naft, Saipa and Al-Sharjah. From 2008 to 2013, Masoud played 101 times for Osasuna scoring 8 goals. He has also appeared in 52 official matches for Iran national football team.
