Pejman Montazeri Signs New Esteghlal Deal
Iran international Pejman Montazeri announced on Wednesday that he will sign a new contract with Esteghlal FC. He has agreed to play for the Tehran-based football club until the end of midseason.
“I will stay in Tehran at least until the end of midseason. However, I might also be able to play for Esteghlal FC until the end of upcoming season, but I should consider conditions.” Pejman Montazeri told reporters after finalizing his deal with Ali Fathollahzadeh, the managing director of Esteghlal.
Montazeri also went on to talk about his offers from Chinese football clubs. “My agent has negotiated with a Chinese side. I will reveal the name of this club in near future, but it’s not Dalian. The club is currently competing in China’s top flight league.” Earlier, Iran’s local media reported that Pejman Montazeri, 29, has joined Dalian.
“My current offer from China is great. I will be able to earn much more, if I join the Chinese club.” Montazeri added. As Iranian Rial has lost its values against foreign currencies, offers from foreigner clubs are financially better for Iranian top players.
Currently, Montazeri is one of the key players of Esteghlal. He joined Blues in 2007.
In last decade, a large number of Iran’s famous and popular players joined Emirates-based football clubs since they could make more money in those teams. However, political tensions between Islamic Republic and Persian Gulf countries have reduced the number of Iranian players working in Arab leagues.
