Khosro Heydari Extends Esteghlal Contract
Iran international Khosro Heydari announced on Sunday that he had reached agreement with the officials of Esteghlal. Accordingly, he has agreed to extend his current contract with the Tehran-based football club. The new contract of Heydari with Esteghlal will expire in 2015.
In recent days, Khosro Heydari received alluring offers from Iranian and Qatari clubs. “Before signing the new contract, Sepahan officials contacted me. But I told them that I will only play for Esteghlal, if I decide to continue my career in Iran.”
“I also received several offers from Qatar-based teams. Ali Fathollahzadeh, the general manager of Esteghlal, asked me to cancel my negotiations with Qatari side.” Heydari added.
He says the current position of Esteghlal in AFC Champions League was the main reason for extending his contract. “Esteghlal can easily win the title of AFC Champions League. So I decided to sign a new contract in the hope winning the ACL cup.”
“I have already joined the training sessions of Esteghlal. Currently, I am in my best conditions and I don’t have any problems with regard to serving my beloved team.” Khosro Heydari remarked about his personal situation.
Heydari, 29, is one of the key players of Esteghlal and Iran national football team. He had a pivotal role in Iran’s qualification to 2014 FIFA World Cup. Khosro has played in numerous international tournaments with Team Melli including but not limited to 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification, 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification and 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualification.
