IRIB Accused of Airing Anti-Muslim Film
Iranian socialists and analysts have repeatedly criticized the performance of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) in recent years. According to activists, IRIB has failed to attract Iranian viewers because of airing low-quality programs, with compared to Persian satellite TV channels.
Mehdi Bayati, an Iranian scholar, says IRIB airs series and programs which are clearly violating Islamic regulations. “Iran’s state television has failed to attract viewers over the past few years mainly because of airing low quality programs, which are actually offending the Islamic rules and guidelines,”
“During the holy month of Ramadan, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting aired a few series promoting anti-Islam behaviors between youths. These issues should be taken serious, and the managers of IRIB must try hard to address them as soon as possible,” Mehdi Bayati continued.
The Iranian scholar says the high-ranking officials of IRIB usually refuse to accept their mistakes. “In fact, they are taking advantage of massive budgets every year, so they are responsible for controlling the quality of the programs aired by IRIB,”
“Despite suffering from financial issues, the Persian satellite TV channels have succeeded to draw the attention of Iranian nationals. Currently, the main duty of IRIB is entertaining people, but it seems this organization has failed to achieve its ultimate goals in this regard,” Bayati added
Mehdi Bayati also went on to criticize satellite TV channels for broadcasting ‘abnormal’ programs. “Programs aired by Manoto TV, Gem TV and Farsi One channels are actually promoting aggressive and disruptive behaviors in Iran. Some of these programs are portraying negative image from the Iranian society. This changes the insights of people toward life.” Bayati said in an interview with the Herald Boy on Saturday.
Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) is a giant Iranian corporation in control of radio and television. Ezzatollah Zarghami currently serves as the managing director of IRIB. He has close relations with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
