Iranian Companies Developing New Video Games for Local Players
As the video game industry is rapidly growing in Iran, local companies are developing 13 new games in partnership with Iranian National Foundation of Computer Games, Science and Technology Ministry and Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology.
According to Behrouz Minaei, the Managing Director of Iranian National Foundation of Computer Games, these games will be available for different platforms including IOS, Android, Java and Windows.
“Science and Technology Ministry has already expressed its interests for investing in Iran’s video game industry and supporting local game manufacturers in the country. Foundation of Computer Games is operating as a non-governmental organization (NGO), so it cannot receive supports from the Ministry directly.” Behrouz Minaei told local media on Tuesday.
Minaei explained the suggested solution for solving this problem. “Based on the agreements between the Foundation of Computer games and the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology, Science and Technology Ministry will offer its help via the Supreme Council.”
Behrouz Minaei went on to talk about the investments made by the National Foundation of Computer Games in this field. “Consequently, we managed to invest some $65,000 in developing new video games inside the country last year. These games will be released in near future.”
“A number of the new developed games are also available for mobiles and smart phones. We are planning to release more video games for other platforms including IOS, Android and Windows Phone in coming months.” Behrouz Minaei added.
“Aseman Kharashha, Taskhir-e-Aseman, Sheytoonak, Tileh Bazi, Zamin-e-Man and Dah-Toop are the titles of new games developed by local companies in cooperation with the Foundation of Computer Games.” Behrouz Minaei concluded.
Over the past few years, the Iranian government has tried hard to decrease the penetration of foreign-developed video games in the country. Currently, video games developed by U.S.-based companies are among the most popular games between Iranian gamers.
