Haghighi Dreams of Playing for European Football Teams
After spending two unsuccessful years at Rubin Kazan, Alireza Haghighi returned to Persepolis FC on loan and signed a one-year contract. Before joining the Russian club, Haghighi used to be the number one goalkeeper of Reds.
Alireza Haghighi, 25, says he always dream of playing for European teams. “I faced several difficulties in playing for Rubin Kazan, so I decided to join Persepolis FC in the hope of playing for my beloved club. Also I will do my best to convince Carlos Queiroz to invite me for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.”
“I am always ready to enter new challenges. I managed to learn a lot of things when I was a member of Rubin Kazan. In fact, my view about football has been changed comparing to two years ago.” The former captain of Persepolis told local media.
Haghighi is also a member of Iran national football team since 2010. He was first called up to Team Melli under the tutelage of Afshin Ghotbi.
“World Cup is an important tournament for every player. I aim to play for Iran national football team because it will help me to receive offers from top European football teams.” Alireza Haghighi added.
Regarding the conditions of Reds Army, Haghighi says: “Persepolis has failed to win the title of Iran Pro League over the past few years. On the other hand, Ali Daei has recently signed a three-year contract with the club. In my opinion, Persepolis will be able to claim the title of IPL in next season.”
Ali Daei, the new head coach of Persepolis, has always supported Alireza Haghighi. However, he has not included Haghighi in any matches during the first four weeks of Iran Premier League. Nilson, 37, is currently serving as the number one goalkeeper of the team. Subsequently, he has become a popular player between Persepolis ultra fans.
