Conservatives Side with Hassan Rouhani against Economic Sanctions
Mohammad Nabi Habibi, the Secretary General of the Motalefeh Party, says the Iranian political parties should offer full support to the country’s new government, despite the existing disagreements between conservatives and the ruling party.
“Iran is currently in need of a national unity. Controlling the current economic crisis in Iran is the most important duty of Iran’s new government. However, the Iranian government should receive enough support from all the political parties,” Mohammad Nabi Habibi said during a press conference on Monday.
“I strongly believe that the Iranian new government cannot address the current problems without the support of other political parties,” Habibi declared.
According to local media reports, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani is determined to tackle the economic issues in the country. Iran is extremely suffering from the economic sanctions, and Hassan Rouhani has promised to negotiate with world’s powers with regard to the embargoes.
“In my opinion, these sanctions are illegal. The U.S. government and the European Union should lift these sanctions if they want to negotiate with Iran over the country’s nuclear program,” Mohammad Nabi Habibi added.
Iran has been accused of developing nuclear arms and weapons. Tehran has repeatedly rejected charges in this regard calling them baseless.
The Iranian politician also went on to talk about the recent developments of Syria. According to Mohammad Nabi Habibi, the Israeli government has provided chemical weapons to rebels fighting against Bashar al-Assad.
“Documents prove that Israel could be blamed for the recent chemical attacks carried out by terrorists in Syria. I kindly urge the Western governments to stop supporting Israel, because this country is actually fueling up the ongoing crisis in Syria,” Habibi told reporters.
“At the same time, the Israeli government and intelligence services are carrying out attacks to Lebanon. The people and Mujahids of Lebanon should use the experiences of Iran in order to eradicate the terrorism in Lebanon,” the Iranian politician concluded.
