City Council of Tehran Pays Tribute to Mayor Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf

City Council of Tehran

Over the past few years, the activities of Tehran Municipality and Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf have been well-received by citizens, socialists and famous politicians. Alireza Dabir, a member of City Council of Tehran, says Ghalibaf is among the best mayors of Tehran in history.

“As the capital of the country, Tehran always needs to take advantage of a powerful municipality and mayor. During the recent years, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf was one of the best mayors of Tehran.” Dabir remarked in an interview on Thursday.

Referring to the projects, which completed under the tutelage of Ghalibaf, Alireza Dabir said: “He has managed to inaugurate a large number of remarkable projects in Tehran. The new facilities added to the city have turned Tehran into one of the most advanced cities of the world. Currently, the conditions of Tehran have improved dramatically in compare to eight years ago. ”

“For instance, Tehran Municipality succeeded to open Sadr Tunnel under Ghalibaf. These kinds of projects are very important for Tehran and its citizens. On the other hand, Ghalibaf’s influence helps him to receive maximum supports from the governmental organizations.” Dabir added.

However, some people accuse Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf of abusing his power as the mayor of Tehran.

“One of the main responsibilities of Tehran City Council is selecting the new mayor. I personally believe that nobody else can manage Tehran Municipality as well as Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. So I will support him in the upcoming election of Tehran’s new mayor.” Alireza Dabir declared his support for the former police chief. Tehran is Iran’s largest city and urban area.

It is good to know that on 17 September 2005, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf was elected as the next Mayor by the City Council of Tehran to succeed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who left the office after was elected as president. He was also reelected for another term on 12 September 2010.
