Attila Hejazi: Esteghlal can win the AFC Champions League Title

Attila Hejazi

Attila Hejazi, an Iranian football coach, says the players of Esteghlal are capable of winning the AFC Champions League title. Esteghlal are the only Iranian football team managed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League.

“The coaches of Esteghlal should pursue new styles of play for AFC Champions League. Esteghlal have garnered 12 points from the opening 5 matches in Iran Pro League, but their style of play should be revised in order to defeat Buriram FC at home,” said Attila Hejazi, the former head assistant coach of Esteghlal.

“Buriram are taking advantage of Spanish players, and they are currently the leading team of Thai Premier League. Of course, they will do their best to defeat Esteghlal FC in Tehran,” Hejazi added.

Regarding the possible chance of Esteghlal in ACL, Hejazi said: “The players of Esteghlal have enough potential to claim the AFC Champions League title. A few years ago, Zob Ahan became runner-up in the same competition. However, the current players of Esteghlal are among the best members of Iran national football team. So Esteghlal can actually win ACL in this season,”

Rahmati, Heydari, Montazeri, Nekounam, Teymourian and Ghazi are the key players of Esteghlal FC and Team Melli.

Attila Hejazi also went on to call the football federation of Iran to support Esteghlal. “At the same time, all the Asian clubs are trying hard to win ACL. Japanese and Arab clubs have managed to invest a lot of money in their squad, and they have signed with professional and experienced players. In my opinion, Esteghlal must receive more supports from the officials of Iran Football Federation,”

“Iranians should support Esteghlal to win the coming match against Buriram FC. Esteghlal’s success is same as the accomplishment of Iran national football team.” Attila Hejazi concluded.

The fans of Esteghlal’s arch-rival, Persepolis FC, have promised to attend Azadi Stadium to support the Tehran-based football club against Buriram United.
