Ali Kafashian Asks the Government to Support FFIRI for Staging Asian Cup in 2019
According to local media reports, Iran’s Football Federation is interested in hosting 2019 AFC Asian Cup in the country. Ali Kafashian, the managing director of FFIRI, said on Thursday that Iranian government should fully support the Football Federation with regard to hosting this important tournament.
“Iran is completely ready to host 2019 AFC Asian Cup. Over the past few years, we have reinforced infrastructures in the country in the hope of staging important international competitions and tournaments. For instance, a number of standard stadiums have been built by FFIRI in different provinces and cities.” Ali Kafashian declared Iran’s interesting in hosting the tournament.
“As the managing director of Iran’s Football Federation, I will do what I could to host this important tournament in our country. If we manage to host AFC Asian Cup, Iran can take advantage of fantastic economic opportunities. This will also allow us to propel the level of Iranian football.” Ali Kafashian told reporters on Thursday.
Iran has previously hosted the editions in 1968 and 1976. Under Ali Kafashian, the country also staged U-16 Asian Cup successfully.
“During the recent years, we have succeeded to receive positive feedbacks from the representatives of AFC over hosting AFC Asian Cup in Iran. However, the Iranian government should support FFIRI to achieve this ultimate goal.” Kafashian concluded. Iran’s bid to host the 2011 AFC Asian Cup was rejected by the officials of AFC.
