Ali Fathollahzadeh Pays Tribute to Captain Farhad Majidi
Farhad Majidi, 37, is still among the best players of Iran’s Premier League. Over the past few years, he has managed to score important goals for his side, Esteghlal FC. Majidi was named as the best player of Esteghlal last season. During his term as president of the club, Ali Fathollahzadeh succeeded to sign with Farhad Majidi from Bahman in 1997.
“Farhad is one of the most valuable players inside the country. He has played a significant role in Esteghlal’s victories in recent seasons. Fans, managers and coaches of Esteghlal appreciate Farhad Majidi for his notable contribution to the club.” Esteghlal chairman Ali Fathollahzadeh told a press-conference on Monday.
“He has managed to score important goals for Esteghlal. I hope he continues his successes with the team in coming months.” Fathollahzadeh added. Rumors suggest that Farhad Majidi will bid farewell to professional football at the end of this season.
Majidi started his youth career at the Tehran-based club, Bahman. In 1997, he agreed to join Esteghlal on a two-year contract. Iranian legendary football player has already played for Rapid Wien, Al-Wasl, Al-Ain, Al-Ahli and Al Gharrafa.
“Farhad Majidi is free to play for Esteghlal FC as long as he prefers to do. We are also deeply interested in extending his current contract and sign a new deal with him. But Farhad will decide if he wants to pursue his career at Esteghlal FC.” Ali Fathollahzadeh declared his interests in Majidi’s top-notch services.
Regarding the conditions of forwards at Esteghlal, Fathollahzadeh said: “In pre-season transfer window, we signed with top forwards and attackers of Iran Pro League. The performance of new signings will improve in next few months. Note that Esteghlal is determined to win the title of AFC Champions League.”
