Afghan Ambassador: Chabahar Port is the Best Trade Route for Afghanistan
Kabul’s Ambassador to Tehran Nasir Ahmad Noor says Iran’s Chabahar port offers extraordinary opportunities to Iranian and Afghan businessmen. Afghanistan is a landlocked country located in the east of Iran. Iranian government has recently agreed to allow Afghan companies to export their goods through Chabahar port.
“The governments of Iran and Afghanistan have succeeded to establish friendly ties over the past few years. Accordingly, we are interested in expanding our economic ties with Islamic Republic. At this time, Iran is one of the most important neighbors of Afghanistan. In recent years, the Iranian government has helped Afghans to rebuild the country from scratch.” Nasir Ahmad Noor remarked during his one-day trip to Chabahar.
“Currently, the Energy Minister of two countries are working out to sign new economic deals. We invite Iranian companies to invest in Afghanistan’s oil and gas fields. Of course, Iran has managed to gather great experiences in this regard.” Afghan ambassador added.
Nasir Ahmad Noor went on to praise Iranian government for helping Afghan companies exporting their goods and products from Iran’s southern port. “Chabahar port is among the best trade routes for Afghan businessmen and companies. The location and infrastructures of this port has facilitated exports and imports for Afghanistan. However, we kindly urge Iran’s Economy Ministry to expand the operations of Chabahar port.”
“In near future, Afghanistan will establish a trade chamber at Chabahar port in the hope of serving Iranian and Afghan traders.” Nasir Ahmad Noor concluded.
Chabahar is expected to play an important role in the economy of Afghanistan. Its location lies on the border of Indian Ocean and Oman Sea. Chabahar port is the only Iranian seaport with direct access to ocean.
