AFC Representatives to Visit Iran in October
Mehdi Taj, the Head of Iran’s League Organization, said on Monday that the representatives of AFC will visit Iran to evaluate the improvements of Iranian football clubs. Accordingly Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will update the number of Iranian teams qualify for entering AFC Champions League.
“During the recent years, Iranian football clubs have managed to improve their facilities significantly. Currently, all the clubs competing in Iran Pro League follow the latest rules set by AFC with regard to clubs’ expansions and facilities.” Mehdi Taj said in an interview with state-owned television channel on Monday.
Taj believes that some people have sent false information to AFC about the real facilities of Iranian clubs. “AFC has warned Iran’s Football Federation of these issues. However, we are trying to do our best in order to resolve these kinds of problems.”
According to the documents submitted by Iran’s Football Federation to AFC, all the football clubs in Iran are belonged to privately-held companies. Analysts suggest that the Iranian government literally manages most clubs.
Las year, AFC representatives allowed four Iranian teams to enter the AFC Champions League competition. Esteghlal FC has already managed to qualify for the knock-out phase of this tournament, while the other teams have been eliminated in group stage.
Regarding the quality of the official league ball of Iran Premier League, Mehdi Taj said: “In fact, Uhlsport is among the best and most famous sports goods manufacturers in the world. They have provided around 4,500 free balls to Iran’s Football Federation according to mutual agreements. These balls are completely standard and they comply with FIFA’s latest guidelines.”
“However, we are ready to change the official league balls if the participant clubs pay the involved costs of buying new balls. Recently, we have formed a committee to research about the quality of Uhlsport’s balls. The results will be published in future.” Mehdi Taj concluded.
