6 Students Lost their Lives in Caspian Sea

Caspian Sea of Iran

According to local media reports, 6 students have lost their lives in Caspian Sea. Dr Farzad Bozorgi, the managing director of Red Crescent in Mazandaran province of Iran, has confirmed these reports.

“This event has been happened in Izad Shahr near the city of Noor.” Bozorgi said. Accordingly, 30 students decided to go for swimming in Caspian Sea yesterday. “As the conditions of sea were critical, 6 students have lost their lives when swimming in Caspain Sea because they were not familiar with the techniques of swimming in such situations.”

Farzad Bozorgi also mentioned that the area was protected by Red Crescent, but students didn’t follow the guidelines of Red Crescent’s volunteers. The rescue forces of Red Crescent have managed to pull four other students from the sea, but one student has critical conditions.

Today, The Ministry of Education published an statement refusing the affiliation of the students to the ministry. “This tour was not organized by the Ministry of Education and this organization should not be accounted as the responsible. A committee will be formed by the officials of Ministry of Education to review this event. Our thoughts are with the affected families.”

Member of parliaments have urged the government of Islamic Republic to closely review this case. Bashiri, an Iranian MP, has promised to question the minister of education regarding this happening.

The Caspian Sea is the largest enclosed inland body of water on Earth by area, variously classed as the world’s largest lake or a full-fledged sea.
